THE THREAD | How to hum along with this wild dissonance
I. I no longer know how to hunt for resolution only how to hum along with this wild dissonance find a pulse that holds some voiceless gem or the motion of hibiscus blossoms unfolding long pauses of strong yawning arms finally free from the shackles of haste what among us intoxicates better than whiskey what among us moves against the constrictions the loosening of white-clasped hands and licking teeth smooth after jaws unclench II. As if I don’t know how hard I’ve been running until the thrum behind my ribcage rhythms with the slow breath of a breeze through a valley and I find once again there are places on earth still living without worry of time lost to worrying places that are still quaking beneath creatures trudging toward unseen rivers and with such faith places still glowing bright from the blaze within places on earth still slowly turning places on earth that are still just places that still are places that are still
Pre-Order THE THREAD and support more independent publishing!
If you have already pre-ordered The Thread this week, THANK YOU! A few folks asked what’s the difference between pre-ordering the book and just waiting for it to be released, so I thought I’d take a minute to explain . . . and to hopefully nudge more of you to pre-order.
Publishing books independently means that I don’t have someone else covering the costs to bring the book to life; I am taking on all of the upfront costs of designing and printing the book. By pre-ordering, you are actually helping share those upfront costs so that I can avoid taking on debt in order to publish. Supporting working artists and writers to avoid debt is a really great way to bring more art into the world!
This is not just a book, but also a series of small decisions that I believe are connected to reimagining how we live on this planet. I am excited to be publishing The Thread with a local printer that prides itself on quality books, rather than going the easy route and asking a robot in China to print cheap copies and shipping them across the world. The Thread won’t be available right away on Amazon for a cheaper price and same-day delivery, which means your dollars support more writing and publishing from me, rather than more rocket rides for Jeff Bezos.
Thanks for reading. And thanks for pre-ordering!
