THE THREAD | what it is you stand in awe of
You no longer know
what it is
you stand in awe of:
—The child himself,
God swaddled in skin,
God soothed by a song
or whispers of a story,
God already learning
to cry out
and to laugh
at all he would become.
—Or the glimpses
you see daily,
the small gestures of God
still wearing our skin,
a cup passed,
a name written down,
a door knob turned,
a table turned over.
You no longer know
and it no longer matters.
Give thanks regardless.
And take good notes.
And laugh back.
