Updates (and sneak peek!) on Closure Is Not Justice
Hello!
My kids are back in school, the summer is wrapping up, and I’m now busy getting everything ready for my exhibition of Closure Is Not Justice, opening at Vulpes Bastille next Friday, September 1st. But I’m sitting down for a quick minute to send you an update, invite you to visit the exhibition, and give you a sneak peek of what it’s all about.
First of all, here’s me in my studio space where I’m building out different parts of the installation. It’s hot in here. I’m sweaty. But you can see works-in-progress that will be moved over to Vulpes Bastille in just a few days and prepared for folks to come visit. (See the pyramid below? It’s on wheels so that I can parade it across 18th Street on Monday — it’s too heavy to lift.)
I’ve had a bit of media attention on the project this week, so if you’re interested in learning more before attending the show, check it out: On Tuesday I was interviewed on the Confessing Animals podcast, which you can listen to HERE. And if you’re in KC you can tune in to KKFI 90.1 at Noon TODAY and hear my interview live on ArtSpeak.
Lastly, below is a flyer invitation to the opening reception next Friday. If you’re in KC I hope you’ll stop by, and feel free to pass this flyer along to anyone who might be interested. I look forward to resuming more regular writing and sharing here in a few weeks, and I’m also looking forward to cooler weather so that I can cook some gumbo and drink some Bob’s 47 when it’s not 100 degrees. But mostly right now, I’m very excited to bring this project to completion in the coming week, and to share it as broadly as I can. It’s been a labor of love. Thanks for reading.
